We started off at Laranjeiras, a little village next to the river Guadiana. Some houses are for sale…

We soon gained altitude and had a good view of the river.

The vegetation was lush! There were thousands of cistus!

The scenery was lovely! Orange and lemon and olive and almond trees, and cork and holm oaks!

At Guerreiros do Rio we stopped for a drink at the „Bar do Rio“ (having a drink for Domsti’s !).

Part of the trail was along the river. We even saw some vines (being flooded – will they still produce good wine ?)

In Álamo an old lady gave us a bag full of mandarins!

The path up to Corte das Donas was gorgeous! The smell of orange blossoms, the humming of bees, the chirping of birds, and the rustling of leaves – it was ever so peaceful !

Life could be so beautiful if there was no misery…

After that great day in nature we drove back to the coast to stay in Monte Gordo for the night.
