Our first destination was the fort in Sagres.

Before we entered, we enjoyed the view from up there.

Quite a few surfers !

It’s huge inside the fort !

We could see the Farol do Cabo de São Vicente (the lighthouse from yesterday).

The ground was mostly karst landscape …

… with many flowers …

… and lots of birds.

We were amazed about the fishermen – they often stood very close to the cliff’s edge…

There is a big gap with a cave at the far end of the peninsula. It sounds like a dragon breathing when you stand next to that gap !

We were careful not to step too close to the edge 😉

After the visit to the fort we drove north, to Carrapateira. We had a lovely meal at the Casa da Horte 🙂

Prior to that we went for a walk to the Praia da Bordeira.

The beach is gigantic !

We walked around the Pontal (= headland) da Carrapateira. Now and then there are bridges and crossings to viewpoints.

The view was fantastic !

We like this type of vegetation, with the low shrubs.

The cliffs looked splendid in the sunlight …

… but the evening light bathed everything in special colours !

We watched the sunset 🙂
