We tend to chose our destinations by chance and very spontaneous – either we see a picture of a place we like, or we read something about an area that we fancy visiting. Well, we read about the Pulo do Lobo (wolf jump).
Driving inland, on country roads, past a lot of stork nests !

Stop in Ourique, by a Miradouro (viewpoint).

Driving further inland …

… through the Parque Natural do Vale do Guadiana.

The Pulo do Lobo is a shoot, or little waterfall, where the river Guadiana finds its way through stones.

The water was dirty (brown and foamy), but the rocks looked great !

A black stork flew off. Unfortunately we were too stunned and did not react fast enough to take a photo…

We then drove on, past Mértola, where the castle was lit up.
