Our last day in Portugal we spent in the Parque Natural de Montesinho. We didn’t regret it one minute – we loved it there. First we had a look at Bragança by daylight:

The old part of the town is completely within the defense wall !

Lots of narrow streets, interesting murals, and a cute little garden:

Driving out of Bragança, past strange wall sculptures (seen from the right angle, they probably look perfect !), and weird figures on roundabouts:

The village of Montesinho looks like an outdoor museum !

We started our hike there. It turned out to be another WOW walk!

The rocks, the flowers (lots of heather), the shrubbery, the view – we loved it 🙂

Below the dam of the Barragem de Serra Serrada:

The dam, and a split in the rocks (to walk through):

Holes in the rocks, and a bridge made out of one stone only …

… and the lake itself:

We walked on a bit further.

The view was great !

Sometimes the path was partially or completely under water.

It looked like tests were being done with the wind turbines: the tips were changed to stop the turbines.

On the way down to Montesinho we heard (and actually saw) a cuckoo, and also swallows and vultures !

Lovely trees !

We then left Portugal… As soon as we were in Spain, we saw people using the road again – it seems to be a Spanish thing: to walk, or to have a chat while sitting in the car, or to put tables and chairs out. We even saw people playing pétanque on the side of the street (but I wasn’t quick enough to take a picture).

The evening light coloured everything nicely.
