A day with several highlights in Snæfellsjökull National Park.

Ein Tag mit vielen Highlights im Snæfellsjökull Nationalpark.

Djúpalónssandur, a black beach with lots of rusty metal pieces from a shipwreck lying around.

We first walked along the coast towards the south – lots of lava stacks !

Wir wanderten zuerst der Küste entlang gegen Süden – viele Lava Felsnadeln und -brocken !

The path led along the edge of the cliffs.

Der Weg führte am Abgrund der Klippe entlang.

At Einarslón, by some ruins of an abandoned farm, we turned around.

In Einarslón, bei den Ruinen einer verlassenen Farm, traten wir den Rückweg an.

At the beach itself we enjoyed the rock formations !

Am Strand bewunderten wir die Felsformationen !

We then walked in the other direction, towards Dritvik.

Wir wanderten dann in die andere Richtung, nach Dritvik.

Dritvik was a bustling fishing harbour between 1650 til 1950. Now there is only an emergency lodging.

Dritvik war ein Fischerhafen von ca. 1650 bis 1950. Jetzt ist dort bloss eine Notunterkunft.

Back at the beach. Just behind it there are a couple of little ponds.

Zurück zum Strand. Unmittelbar dahinter sind zwei kleine Weiher.

Some of the flowers were under water !

Einige der Blumen waren unter Wasser !

You can test your strength, to check your eligibility as a seaman !

Man kann seine Kraft messen, um die Eignung als Matrose zu testen !

A hole in one of the rocks tempts everybody to pose and look through.

Ein Loch in einem der Felsen verleitet alle zum Posieren und Durchschauen.

Only a short ride before we stopped again..

Nur eine kurze Fahrt, bevor wir wieder anhielten…

… for a little walk through the countryside at Beruvik. A lot of farms and a fishing harbour used to be here.

… für einen kurzen Spaziergang in Beruvik. Früher gab es hier viele Bauernhöfe und einen Fischerhafen.

… Saxhóll, a crater. 387 steps lead up to the top.

The street to the most westernmost point of Snæfellsnes, Öndverðarnes, takes us through a lot of dark lava.

Die Strasse zum westlichsten Punkt von Snæfellsnes, Öndverðarnes, führt durch viele dunkle Lava.

The one of the two lighthouses, and an old fountain.

Der erste der zwei Leuchttürme, und ein alter Brunnen.

A couple of gannets and some eider ducks flew past.

Ein paar Basstölpel und einige Eiderenten flogen vorbei.

The road was very bumpy, but it was worth it !
