The next day started cloudy.

We drove to the Ballycroy Visitor Centre. It’s all about Nephin National Park, but we’ll go to the park another day. There is an interesting exhibition and a lovely café at the centre 🙂 –> Ballycroy Visitor Centre

A little walk round the centre …
Ein kleiner Spaziergang ums Besucherzentrum …
… took us on a hill just above. I love the twisted tree trunks.
… führte uns auf einen Hügel. Ich liebe die verdrehten Baumstrünke.
We saw fields where they cut turf. Heather was blossoming everywhere.
Auf einigen Feldern wird Torf gestochen. Überall blühte Erika.
On the hill you could look through a hole in a stone and you saw Croah Patrick, a holy mountain for the Irish.
Auf dem Hügel kann man durch ein Loch in einem Stein den Croah Patrick sehen, ein heiliger Berg für die Iren.
The view is good even though the hill isn’t high at all.
Man hat eine gute Aussicht, obwohl der Hügel nicht hoch ist.
The drive towards Achill Island was very picturesque 🙂 These photos are only „wrist shots“ out of the moving van, but they still show the beauty.
Die Fahrt zur Insel Achill war malerisch 🙂 Diese Fotos sind nur „Handgelenkschüsse“ aus dem fahrenden Büssli, zeigen aber die Schönheit trotzdem.
Again and again we encountered sheep on the road 😉 A bridge leads over to Achill Island.
Immer wieder begegneten wir Schafen auf der Strasse 😉 Eine Brücke führt rüber auf die Insel Achill.
Since the weather turned out nice, we decided to drive onto Minaun Heights. It’s the third highest hill on Achill with 466 metres. We’ve never seen THAT many sheep on a road 😉
Da das Wetter schön war, entschlossen wir uns, auf Minaun Heights zu fahren. Es ist mit 466 Meter der dritthöchste Hügel auf Achill. Wir haben noch nie SOO viele Schafe auf einer Strasse gesehen 😉
The view was phenomenal, but a little hazy. Keel Bay has a huge beach!
Die Aussicht war phänomenal, aber ein bisschen dunstig. Keel Bay hat einen riesigen Strand!
The signal posts aren’t quite at the top, so we walked further up.
Die Signalmasten sind nicht ganz oben, deshalb wanderten wir noch weiter hinauf.

From where we parked we could watch the sheep using the bicycle racks to rub themselves on 🙂
