Connemara Visitor Centre / Cleggan / Clifden – 14.+15.7.2023

A couple of rainy days lay ahaed of us.

We drove to the Connemara Visitor Centre –> Connemara Visitor Centre .

There is an interesting exhibition about Connemara, the bog and the turf cutting.

We didn’t want to do a walk in the rain, therefore we drove on towards the coast.

A stop at the Ballynakill Lough. We noticed that cemetries are often built at nice locations, e.g. with a view.

We spent the night in Cleggan.

There is a Wild Atlantic Sign at the harbour of Cleggan.

We drove to Clifden, a nice little town, often referred to as „the Capital of Connemara“.

We visited the Station House Museum.

At the Steam Café we had a couple of very tasty scones 🙂

We spent the night on the parking of the Alcock and Brown Memorial. These two were the first men to succeed with a trans-Atlantic flight, in 1919. They crash landed (but were unharmed) near Clifden.
