Clifden / Dog’s Bay / Bog road – 21.-23.7.2023

A couple of rainy days were ahead of us. Even the seagulls at the Bunowen Pier were complaining 😉

We seized the opportunity to do shopping and washing in Clifden. We also ate well, for example at the „Off the Square“ restaurant.

The following day we spent a few hours at the Steam Café. I had time to write one of these blogs 🙂

We also wondered, what the Signal Bar (the old station) looks like from the inside.

We spent another night at Bunowen Pier. It’s amazing what difference the tide makes!

In Ballyconneely is the lovely „Sweet Nothings Café“ 🙂

It didn’t rain anymore, so we drove along the coast, looking for a walk to do.

We found what we were looking for at the Dogs Bay. As usual, a lot of signs to read – or to ignore 😉

The walk first took us along the massive beach (with lots of jellyfish!) …

… then across the peninsula that lies between Dogs Bay and Gurteen Bay.

The ground was very interesting.

We saw the odd beach.

The stones were fascinating.

Other impressions 🙂

Some cows were lying around, but one was very busy trying to save somebody’s life 😉

Luckily it wasn’t necessary, so Kurt helped to tidy up!

The ground was either very swampy or very rocky …

… but always with grass and even some caterpillars!

These rocks very much reminded us of Brittany 🙂

At Gurteen Bay we headed left to our van.

From here you can see the peninsula between Dogs Bay and Gurteen Bay, and also the two beaches.

Another view of Gurteen Bay.

That day there was a regatta at Roundstone, but it was nearly finished.

We then drove on to the Bog road …

— to stay for the night.

But first we went for a little stroll …

… it was beautiful in the evening light!

A few details.

Fantastic just to look around 🙂

And then the sunset !
