Bangor / Aber falls – 6.8.2023

Since we spent the night in Bangor, and I needed some new trekking boots, we decided to stroll through town.

It was Sunday, so some shops were shut, but there were also a lot of shops that were shut permanently…

A church that has been turned into luxury apartments… !?

Another church also doesn’t seem to be used anymore…

Not far from Bangor are the Aber falls. A comfortable path leads to the big waterfall.

Beautiful old trees lined the way.

Lots of interesting information in an old hut.

Many different lichen can be found there.

There were a lot of other people, but I successfully managed to take photos without anybody in the pictures 😉

The water falls about 120 feet ! It’s the Rhaedr-fawr (great waterfall).

Most people turned around at that point, but we continued walking.

Soon we got to the second waterfall, the Rhaedr-bach (little waterfall).

The two waterfalls were very loud – obviously the shape of the valley intensifies the acoustics. The scenery is beautiful 🙂

Walking back towards Abergwyngredyn offered a splendid view.

The patterns in the sea looked artistic to me.

Bangor pier could be seen in the distance.

The last leg of the walk was very steep.

That was a beautiful walk 🙂
