We wanted to go and see family in the Midlands, so we drove east. In Welshpool we first stopped at a little pond, at the nature reserve Llyn Coed y Dinas.

Wir wollten in den Midlands einen Familienbesuch machen, deshalb fuhren wir gegen Osten. In Welshpool machten wir Halt bei einem kleinen Naturpark, beim Llyn Coed y Dinas.

There were mainly ducks, cormorans and geese.

Es hatte hauptsächlich Enten, Kormorane und Gänse.

We then went to Welshpool. A railway line was shut down in 1956 but now runs again as a tourist attraction.

Wir fuhren dann nach Welshpool. Eine Eisenbahnlinie wurde im Jahr 1956 eingestellt, aber jetzt fährt eine Dampfbahn als Touristenattraktion.

The Montgomery canal runs through Welshpool. We walked along it for some time.

Der Montgomery Kanal fliesst durch Welshpool. Wir spazierten ihm entlang.

A lock in the middle of town. The canal is very very narrow there!

Eine Schleuse inmitten der Stadt. Der Kanal ist sehr sehr schmal an dieser Stelle!

Soon we were surrounded by green.

Bald waren wir von Grün umgeben.

I didn’t feel in top form that day. We turned round at that point.

Ich fühlte mich nicht in Topform an diesem Tag. Wir traten hier bereits den Rückweg an.

The sky looked a bit threatening.

Der Himmel sah etwas bedrohlich aus.

We strolled through town and had Fish’n Chips 🙂

The next day we went to Castle Powis. A lot of other people had the same idea…

Am nächsten Tag gingen wir zum Schloss Powis. Viele andere Leute hatten die gleiche Idee…

We went for a walk around the huge garden. It’s all designed and arranged, but lovely all the same 🙂

Wir wanderten im riesigen Garten umher, welcher geplant gestaltet und angeordnet wurde, aber trotzdem wunderschön ist:)

In the forest there are very tall sequoia trees …

Im Wald hat es sehr grosse Sequoia Bäume …

… and a lot of hydrangeas …

… und viele Hortentsien …

… and a view of the surrounding countryside …

… und Aussicht auf die umliegende Landschaft …

… and a giant foot (!) and beautiful trees and butterflies.

… und einen riesigen Fuss (!) und schöne Bäume und Schmetterlinge.

The castle is very big. The grounds may be used to play games!

Das Schloss ist riesig. Der Rasen darf als Spielplatz genutzt werden!

The other part of the garden is even more cultivated.

Der andere Teil des Gartens ist noch kultivierter.

There is an abundance of flowers!

Es gibt ein Blumenreichtum sondergleichen!

The lord of the castle went to great lengths to ensure that everything is perfect!

Der Schlossherr gab sich grosse Mühe, dass alles perfekt ist!

Once again, we were too late to see the inside of the castle 😉

Wie so oft waren wir wieder einmal zu spät, um das Schloss von innen zu besichtigen 😉

We then left Wales (only for a short trip to Kingswinford), to see family that we haven’t seen for a long time 🙂

Wir verliessen Wales (nur für einen kurzen Ausflug nach Kingswinford), um Verwandte zu besuchen, welche wir schon lange nicht mehr gesehen haben 🙂
