Ceibwr Bay to Newport Sands – 16.8.2023

We started walking in Ceibwr Bay, on yet another glorious sunny day!

On previous visits to the UK these pink little flowers bloomed everywhere. This time they were mostly withered.

The Pembrokeshire coast path is signposted with an acorn. We also saw jellyfish, and a surprising amount of pigeons. A group of cliff divers showed their skills.

The cliffs are rugged, there are arches and stacks …

… and butterflies and lovely flowers.

It was a fantastic sight 🙂

The Witches Cauldron was previously a cave whose roof has collapsed.

There are many steep ascents and descents, and it was very hot…

At one point we came across some horses.

We also saw some seals, but they were far down.

It’s difficult to decide which photos to skip…

Just one more bend …

… then we finally saw our goal, Newport Sands 🙂

Newport Sands has a huge beach!

We could see the old castle of Newport. In the background is Carn Ingli, a „mountain“ in the Preseli Hills.

The cafés in Wales (and generally in the UK) very often already close at 5 pm. We were just in time for a drink!

Luckily we didn’t have to walk back, but could take the bus ! The Poppit Rocket runs three times a day between Fishguard and Cardigan.

We hopped off at Moylgrove and walked down to Ceibwr Bay. The evening sun bathed everything in a wonderful light.

After this wonderful hike we drove to Nevern to the Trewern Arms for Fish’n Chips and to stay overnight on their car park.
