Fishguard / Strumble Head – 18.+19.8.2023

Fishguard wasn’t a place we really wanted to visit, but we fancied a nice coffee and needed a toilet 😉

At Ruthie’s Cafe we had our coffee 🙂

We saw an old photograph of „Wallis Street“ and went out to find this street!

More impressions of Fishguard.

The Marine Walk.

Nobody else was on the campsite Trefechan Wen. It reminded us of Iceland – just an open field, and a couple of little huts with toilet and shower. The toilet was a Porta Potti, the same that we have in our van!

In the evening and also at night it was blowing a gale and raining heavily. The next day was brighter, but still very windy.

We drove to Strumble Head lighthouse.

The lighthouse is not accessible. We saw some seals!

First we walked along the coast to the west.

We enjoyed the view and the flowers.

After about an hour the path became very muddy, so we turned round.

A former World War II building is now an observatory.

We then walked along the coast to the east. Even a couple of gannets showed up 🙂

A few cows shared the path with us.

The path was well signposted as „Wales Coast Path“ or „Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail“ or just simply with an acorn.

Horses were running (or standing) around freely.

A few seals, probably mothers with their young ones, were playing in the sea.

The sun came out more and more 🙂

It was quite late when we got back to our van. We decided to stay there for the night.
