St David’s Head / St Davids – 21.8.2023

The disused airfield is now mainly used by dog walkers. We had a very quiet night.

Whitesands, the start of our little walk. A lot of surfers enjoyed the waves.

Rugged cliffs combined with sandy beaches, …

… some nice flowers …

… and more rugged cliffs, but no sand, …

… carpets full of heather and/or gorse …

… and some horses grazing peacefully.

We walked to the tip of St David’s Head. We even saw some gannets!

The sky looked too threatening to carry on walking, so we turned back and drove to St Davids. This little village is the smallest city of the UK, which it owes to the fact that it has a cathedral.

We had a bite to eat at the Cathedral House …

… and had a look at the place.

The cathedral was already closed (once again we were too late…), so we only explored the surroundings.

Some parts of the cathedral were accessible.

There is a lovely little garden.

The courtyard.

It started to rain heavily. We drove to another part of the airfield for another quiet night.

The sky even turned a little red before it got dark.
