Skrinkle / Lydstep Point / Manorbier – 29.8.2023

We drove quite a bit along the coast, past Freshwater East, to Skrinkle.

At the Youth Hostel we were served excellent coffee, scones and toasties.

These cliffs are called Church Doors.

We walked in the other direction towards Lydstep Point. There are plenty more arches and caves.

The path went up and down.

We saw some lovely flowers and butterflies.

Whitesheet Rock is a fascinating rock formation.

A lot of the stones had lichen growing on them.

It’s obvious which way the wind is blowing.

From Lydstep Point we could see Caldey Island.

Just round the corner is the holiday estate Lydstep.

We walked back to our camper van and drove to Manorbier. The castle there is from the late 11th century.

Right below the castle is the sandy beach with beautiful red rocks..

We decided to take the coastal path to the left.

King’s Quoit is a cromlech, a neolithic burial chamber.

The evening light was fantastic 🙂

Gorse, heather and other flowers.

It was a real WOW walk 🙂

The scenery was gorgeous!

It’s a geologist’s dream 🙂

When we reached the military area we had to turn inland.

Walking back towards Manorbier.

We stayed overnight next to the cemetry of St James’s Church.
