Abergavenny (Wales) / Stonehenge (England) – 5.9.2023

Leaving Pencelli and driving to Abergavenny at the edge of the Brecon Beacons.

Abergavenny is a scenic town. We had a walk around, buying a couple of things and going for coffee at the „Coffee Pot“.

At this point I’d like to mention the often very unusual pub names in the United Kingdom. Many times we smiled at the names that are fanciful and imaginative 🙂

We then left Wales via the Prince of Wales bridge, which spans the river Severn. There are many parts of Wales we haven’t seen yet – we will definitely be back! We love what we saw so far 🙂

Some impressions of England.

It was actually by chance that we drove past Stonehenge. The visitor centre was already shut. A very kind and helpful man directed us to a road very close to the monument. From there we only had about a hundred metres to walk to the site. This man is an excellent example of how friendly the British people actually are!

Stonehenge is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It looked lovely in the evening light 🙂

With a bit of editing it looked very mystical!

But even without cheating it looked great 🙂

Security people were guarding the site, but obviously they also appreciated the lovely scenery!

We stayed until the sun went down.

After this impressive visit we drove to Salisbury. Here is a map of our route that day.
