Ebro Delta – 29.+30.12.2023

There are quite a few free pitches for campers in the Ebro delta. We stayed at the one next to the restaurant Casa de Fusta.

On another holiday we rented bikes there. This time we only had a little walk around …

… then we drove to Deltebre to go shopping. Some rice fields were flooded.

Riumar is situated by the mouth of the river Ebro. We went for a little walk from there.

We walked through sand and dunes.

Some bird watching huts, but not many birds to see.

A strange looking lighthouse and a viewing platform, right by the mouth of the Ebro.

Some interesting information.

A cycle path leads there, with a funny roundabout at the end 🙂

On the way back we saw a lot of starlings!

We went for a lovely paella at the Casa de Fusta 🙂

The next morning it was lovely and sunny!

Before we set off, we wanted to see the flamingos again. There were a lot, but only a few were flying.

Some other birds.

Leaving the delta, because our holiday destination was further south.

We drove past countless orange and olive plantations.

We had a scary moment at a service station: my bum bag was stolen! Fortunately, I noticed it shortly after the theft, and Kurt ran after the thief, through the whole service area and down the stairs. On the way out, he was able to snatch the bag back from him! Kurt, my hero, in a scene worthy of a film 🙂

Our route on these two days.
