Anna / Xàtiva – 31.12.2023 – 2.1.2024

The previous evening we arrived at our main destination for this holiday, our friends in Anna. We were already treated to our first yummy meal and spent the evening talking, playing cards, drinking and laughing 🙂 Their neighbour generously supplied us with oranges and avocados!

In Anna we went for a walk to the little lake. On the way there, we crossed a bridge with a beautiful view.

In summer it’s probably quite busy.

On the way back we walked past the Fuente de Marzo, a spring.

The Moors already had an excellent irrigation system. The modern one no longer seems to be maintained and was replaced by plastic pipes laid in the ground.

Our solar panels on the roof aren’t working anymore 😦 The following day we went for a drive to charge our battery. I liked the roundabout with the books 🙂 There seem to be a lot of furniture stores in this area, we often saw „muebles“ written up!

The water reservoir Béllus.

Driving towards Xàtiva. The huge castle was built all along a hill above the town.

The fountain of the 25 spouts.

Just below this square is a little park …

… with old trees …

… a long fountain …

… nice ornaments …

… and an old wall with a hidden face in it (a Spanish lady pointed it out to us!).

At the bottom end of the park.

Modern frescoes on a long wall leading into the old town 🙂

Driving back to Anna.

The next day we went on a short hike in Anna.

It turned out to be a great walk 🙂

It was a bit up and down.

There were lovely waterfalls, and we even saw a lady taking a swim!

Some of the rocks and trees looked very interesting.

Another little waterfall …

… and the remains of a wool factory.

Some more interesting details 🙂

The colours (to somebody who isn’t colourblind!) looked amazing 🙂

There was yet another waterfall, the Cascada de los Vikingos!

Afterwards we visited the village of Anna.

There is one particularly nice street 🙂

The trees had small fairy lights wrapped around their trunks, which were powered by solar cells. Some metal grilles were beautifully decorated.

At the end of the street there is a big fountain. Obviously people use it for washing.

Some more impressions of Anna …

… and more little streets.

Our last evening with our friends. We thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality and the excellent food – thanks 🙂
