Guadalest – 5.+6.1.2024

Mahora the next morning. It was quite cold and windy, but sunny.

After breakfast we headed southwest.

We drove past many plantations – vines, oranges, olives or almonds. Very often they put up recommended speed limits instead of actual speed limits.

Apparently the road is sometimes flooded here…

Some more impressions from our journey, out of the van.

We drove past Ontinyent, and near Alcoy we took the CV-70 up into the hills.

We love the landscape up there 🙂

It was already half past five when we got to Guadalest. We explored part of the village.

The path leading to the old part of the town.

There are about eight museums in this little village!

We went for a tasty dinner at the „El Mirador“. My plate of veg was huge!

The wind was very strong! The rubbish bins rolled from the upper to the lower car park, pushed by the strong wind. Kurt put them on their side so that they couldn’t roll any further.

The next day was sunny but still cold.

The path leading to the old part of the town – again 🙂

And the tunnel you have to pass.

Some photos of the old part.

There is a castle, which we didn’t visit – we enjoyed the view of the lake and the landscape instead 🙂

We drove down to the lake for our hike.

It’s a water reservoir.

We walked along the sunny side of the lake.

We didn’t see as much of the lake as we hoped, but there were some nice gnarled trees, and we had a good view of Guadalest and the surrounding hills.

It would have taken too long to walk round the whole lake, so we turned back after a while.

It was still quite cold, being up in the mountains. We decided to head for the coast (past Polop to Benidorm).

Our journey on these two days.
