Laguna Salada de la Mata / Parc Natural El Fondo – 10.1.2024

The pitch in Almoradi was convenient and free of charge, but definitely not pretty. It was next to a sports centre. There was loud music in the morning – the centre was full of people practising jazz dancing.

The further south we drove, the more we noticed all the rubbish lying at the side of the road 😦 There was also a lot of graffiti – some of it very nice, but most of it was not… We preferred the flowers!

We first drove to the Lago Rosa de Torrevieja, but the lake was neither pink nor were there any birds. We decided to take a walk by the Laguna Salada de la Mata instead.

There is a signposted path (with precise distance information!) and even a tiny botanical garden.

A small forest was full of sqiurrels!

There were a few bird hides, but we hardly saw any birds.

Drive through Torrevieja and along the coast to the north. The light was quite special 🙂 According to our map that coastal route is nice, therefore we took this detour.

Having set our mind to see some birds we drove to the Parc Natural El Fondo.

We did see some 🙂 At other times of the year there are also butterflies.

A footbridge leads across a pond.

The evening light worked its magic 🙂

As the sun was setting, it became more and more beautiful.

There was no stopping us taking photos 😉

Pure unadulterated kitsch. But beautiful!

We did manage to leave, eventually, and headed back to Almoradi.

Our drive that day.
