Delta de l’Ebre / driving home – 13.-16.1.2024

We wanted to visit the Ebro Delta again on the way home. Some impressions from the journey: we noticed an incredible number of furniture stores, drove past many vineyards and orange plantations and through hilly landscapes.

Wir wollten auf dem Heimweg nochmals ins Ebrodelta. Einige Eindrücke von unserer Reise: Wir bemerkten unglaublich viele Möbelgeschäfte, fuhren an vielen Reben und Orangen-Plantagen vorbei und durch hügelige Landschaften.

It was getting dark when we reached the delta.

Es war dunkel, als wir das Delta erreichten.

We spent the night on the pitch next to the restaurant l’Estany Casa de Fusta (like last time) and ate another lovely paella 🙂

Wir übernachteten auf dem Stellplatz neben dem Restaurant l’Estany Casa de Fusta (wie letztes Mal) und assen wieder eine leckere Paella 🙂

The next morning we got up really early, to admire the sunrise! This time we were on time, before the sun got up, not like at Cabo de Santa Pola 😉

Am nächsten Morgen standen wir wirklich früh auf, um den Sonnenaufgang zu bewundern! Diesmal waren wir rechtzeitig, bevor die Sonne aufging, nicht wie beim Cabo de Santa Pola 😉

To start with we were the only people at the observation post La Tancada. But there were plenty of flamingos and other birds!

Zu Beginn waren wir die einzigen Menschen beim Beobachtungsturm La Tancada. Aber es gab viele Flamingos und andere Vögel!

The sunrise was fantastic 🙂

Shortly after rising, the sun disappeared behind a band of clouds.

Kurz nach dem Aufgehen verschwand die Sonne hinter einem Wolkenband.

We then drove to the beach to enjoy our breakfast.

Wir fuhren dann an den Strand um unser z’Morge zu geniessen.

Afterwards we explored the delta, stopped at a few „miradors“ (= viewing platforms) and walked a bit.

Anschliessend erkundeten wir das Delta, hielten bei ein paar „miradors“ (= Aussichtsplattformen) und spazierten ein bisschen.

The delta is full of canals and locks, to regulate and control the watering system. Rice is cultivated all over the delta. There are quite a few factories to process the rice.

Das Delta ist voller Kanälen und Schleusen, um das Bewässerungssystem zu regulieren und kontrollieren. Überall auf dem Delta wird Reis angebaut. Es gibt einige Fabriken um das Reis zu verarbeiten.

There are several hundreds or thousands of flamingos …

Es gibt Hunderte oder Tausende Flamingos …

… and herons, lapwings, cormorants, ibis and lots of other birds. One kingfisher, but unfortunately only at a great distance. The air was filled with chattering, chirping and splashing 🙂

… und Reiher, Kiebitze, Kormorane, Ibisse und viele andere Vögel. Ein Eisvogel, aber leider nur aus grosser Entfernung. Die Luft war erfüllt von Geschnatter, Gezwitscher und Geplätscher 🙂

We even saw some storks and also cows!

Wir sahen sogar ein paar Störche und auch Kühe!

We love the colours – the combination of the brown plants with the water.

Wir lieben die Farben – die Kombination der braunen Pflanzen mit dem Wasser.

Not much was in bloom yet.

Es blühte noch nicht sehr viel.

Towards the evening it started to drizzle.

Gegen Abend begann es zu nieseln.

After another night next to the Casa de Fusta we drove off towards home.

Nach einer weiteren Nacht neben dem Casa de Fusta fuhren wir heimwärts.

Crossing the river Ebro, leaving the delta, driving past L’Ampolla, then through lots of olive plantations. The mountain range „Sierra de Montserrat“ looks good – another time we will visit this region!

Wir überquerten den Fluss Ebro, verliessen das Delta, fuhren durch L’Ampolla, dann durch etliche Oliven-Plantagen. Der Gebirgszug „Sierra de Montserrat“ sieht gut aus – ein anderes Mal werden wir diese Gegend besuchen!
