Les Sept-Îles / Ploumanac’h – 24.5.2024

All these years I’ve come to Brittany, but I’ve never been to Les Sept-Îles! Once Anita and I were very close, but then it was already fully booked. Actually there are only five islands – the „seven“ comes from a misinterpretation from Breton into French. We boarded the boat in Perros-Guirec.

The crew went to fetch the boat. The timetable and the spots to board differ according to the tide!

The islands are only 7 kilometres from the mainland.

No one lives on the islands today. It’s a wildlife sanctuary and a paradise for birds. The only gannet colony in France is there.

Gannets are huge birds with a wingspan of nearly two metres.

Other birds like cormorants, razorbills and all kind of seagulls also live there …

… and of course puffins 🙂

The boat sailed close to the islands.

On the Île aux Moines we were able to go ashore and take a walk round the island. We had to access it via a (very wobbly!) suspension bridge.

We took so many photos, we soon fell behind everyone else 😉

There were quite a few flowers that wanted their photo taken!

On the west side of the island.

Hundreds of seagulls with their young ones 🙂

Suddenly we realized that we had to rush back to the boat! When we finally reached it, we were greeted by applauding passengers 😉

The journey continued.

Seals live on one of the islands.

Before we went ashore in Perros-Guirec we drove along the Côte de Granit Rose ( = pink granite coast).

It was fantastic to see these rocks from the sea!

The weather was better than in the morning when we set off. It’s always amazing to see the difference between high and low tide!

We eat lovely galettes at the port of Ploumanac’h …

… and in the centre of Ploumanac’h delicious ice cream and coffee 🙂

A little digestive walk along the coast (that we had seen from the boat before).

We’ve done this walk many times before, but it’s always great to do it again 🙂

Our eyes were more on the stones than on the flowers.

In our imagination we saw all sorts of things or figures in these rock formations 🙂

We turned back at the building of the sea rescue service

Our journey that day.
