Le Gouffre / Pointe de Château / Porz Hir – 30.5.2024

We had a lovely walk along the coast – although we’ve done it many times before, we’re still overwhelmed with emotion.

To get to Le Gouffre, we drove along many small roads. The hedges on either side of the roads are quite high, just like in Britain. It’s difficult to see oncoming traffic…

Unfortunately the gorse no longer blooms. The season for that is late winter and early spring. This coastline is part of the „Côte d’Ajoncs“ (ajoncs = gorse). We just saw a few late blossoms.

It was a windy day, the sea was a bit rough.

Some plants grow between the rocks.

The actual „gouffre“ is a cleft. When the weather is stormy, the water dashes through this gap. Unfortunately I’ve never seen it like that yet.

We love the many rocks jutting out of the water 🙂

Some more flowers!

Interesting black streaks from different rocks.

Between Castel Meur (the house between the rocks) and La Pointe de Château.

The path leads through a little forest.

Interesting rocks, plants and roots.

The consequences of last autumn’s storm are still visible everywhere.

La Pointe de Château is the most northern part of Brittany (the mainland).

Porz Hir has a big beach.

We turned inland, to walk back to where we started. Artichokes can be seen in a lot of fields.

Most houses have lovely gardens and are very well kept 🙂

A particularly colourful garden!

Michel’s house 😉 and some horses at the Gouffre, as well as the leaning church tower of Plougrescant.

We went for a galette in Tréguier, at Le Martray.

At the end of the day we enjoyed a fantastic sunset near Le Gouffre (Poul Stripo).

Again, it’s difficult to chose from the amount of photos we took…

A band of clouds at the horizon.

The journey in our camper van, and the walk we did that day.
