Belle-Île-en-Mer 10.7. – 1.8.2024 (the rest)

The previous blog was about our hikes on Belle-Île – this blog is about the rest. The ferry takes about 50 minutes to reach the island, from Quiberon to Le Palais.

The name Belle-Île is well deserved. The north coast has many small sheltered bays and fine sandy beaches. The south coast is wild, with steep cliffs. Inland, there are gorse and heather landscapes, untouched dunes, and a few small villages with pretty houses.

Le Palais is the biggest town on Belle-Île. It’s quite touristy, but also nice. The citadel bears witness to the island’s military past.

The „extended“ port is protected by a lock so that boats do not run aground at low tide.

There are also two draw bridges – one for cars and one for pedestrians.

The town wall and its surroundings are interesting and worth a visit.

The streets of Le Palais.

And of course some good crêperies 🙂 La Touline right by the harbour …

… and La Chaloupe.

Some interesting details.

One day there was music in the streets!

We stayed at the campsite „Le Bordénéo“ these three weeks, because my son and his family rented a little cottage there. Our pitch was right next to them.

It was great for Luna – she enjoyed the pool 🙂 We had some lovely skies in the evenings!

Games to play, animations at night

Close to the camping there is a nice crêperie.

Some impressions around the camping …

… and from the little port nearby, Port Fouquet.

In Bangor we discovered a cosy café / library, La Veilleuse.

In the crêperie Chez Renée (also in Bangor) we had a few delicious galettes and crêpes 🙂 By the way: I’m not an influencer – we don’t get paid for all the advertising 😉

Bangor is situated more or less in the middle of the island.

Washing at all hours of the day.

One afternoon we visited the „Island Station“ festival.

All good things must come to an end – our holiday, too…

The ferry back to Quiberon.

We all drove home together, in our little camper van. Unfortunately we only found a hotel very late at night.
