Driving across Sicily / Nubia – 18.-31.1.26

Because of storm „Harry“ we left the southeasterly coast and drove north-west.

A few last photos of Etna. The weather soon brightened up.

We were amazed how green and hilly it is inland!

The road is in good condition. Some mountains still had snow.

Interesting rock formations and lovely scenery 🙂

We reached Palermo, but we drove past it, towards the west.

Our next site was in Nubia, next to Trapani. It was a super place to stay, with clean sanitary facilities and a lovely shower! We appreciate good showers on our travels 😉 The owners were very friendly and treated us nearly like cousins (their words!).

With all the rain it got quite wet, but luckily never too bad!

Every morning a van came by with veg and fruit.

There is a salt museum in Nubia. It was closed while we were there, they were doing maintenance work.

Near salt lagoons there are always flamingos and other birds.

We were there a few times, to observe the birds or just to enjoy the view.

The sunsets were great from there!

The „Torre Nubia“ (the tower of Nubia).

You see some islands from there (Isola Formica, Isola Maraone and the Isole Egadi).

Sunsets from the Torre Nubia.

One evening we went to the restaurant next to the Torre Nubia. It was raining heavily…

A couple of times we met this dog, barking and jumping at cars, behaving really strange… And if not the dog, it was the car and motorbike drivers who behaved strange 😉

Some flowers in Nubia.

Flamingos on the way to Trapani.

In Nubia there is an excellent restaurant – open all day – food all day – very friendly staff – full of locals: LIFE Risto Bar Tabacchi.
