Sicily: Selinunte archaeological park – 2.2.26

The archaeological site Selinunte is a huge area where an ancient Greek city used to be –> Selinunte .

One of the temples (E) was reconstructed in 1956.

Pieces of art, by Stefano Bombardieri, are displayed on the site.

The temple E.

We walked a lot, hence we saw many flowers and little creatures.

An augmented reality show explained how the temple might have been built.

Lots of rocks lying around 🙂

We noticed park staff trying to locate ruins beneath the surface.

This building was supposed to have a café, but there was only a vending machine selling coffee for the workers.

We enjoyed the walk across the fields.

We were lucky to have such good weather!

More ruins.

The mouth of the Modione river.

The acropolis and ruins of the temples around it.

The visiting centre was being renovated.

We are not normally that keen to walk around old ruins, but we did enjoy this site 🙂

Some details, and making our way back to the entrance.

Some flowers had already closed their petals for the night.
