Dann fuhren wir zurück Richtung Egilsstaðir. The gorge Innra Hvannagil is worth a visit – we were there last year. The street traverses the pass with the great view again….

We drove north again, with a stop in Fellabær (next to Egilsstaðir). Our favourite café is there, the Bókakaffi. This time we had a delicious pancake, with filling of our choice! The weather forecast was pretty bad, so we decided to travel east. We drove past Akureyri and stopped in Husavík at the Café Hérna (highly recommendable!). In 2014 we did a whale watching tour from Husavík. That trip was actually quite successful, but I felt so sick I don’t even remember having seen a whale……

Ólafsfjörður is a little town between Dalvík and Siglufjörður. It’s a skiing resort from October till April. We stayed here a few days within that week. In 2014, when we drove around Iceland in a rented car, we stayed two nights in one of these little huts, with our own jacuzzi on the balcony! Ólafsfjörður…

Siglufjörður used to be an important little town in the 1940s and 1950s because of the herring industry. Now the population has shrunk considerably, because herring fishing is no longer productive in this region. We spent a couple of days in that village within that week. Leaving Varmaland in the rain, to Skagaströnd. We had a lovely meal at the harbour restaurant 🙂 It’s always amazing how the restaurants (houses in general) look from the outside… Not very inviting!
