Last view from campsite in Stykkishólmur to Breiðafjörður, before we drove along the coast to the Westfjords.

Letzter Blick vom Campingplatz in Stykkishólmur auf den Breiðafjörður, bevor wir der Küste entlang zu den Westfjords fuhren.

A few snapshots out of the car – we did a lot of driving.

Einige Schnappschüsse aus dem fahrenden Auto – wir fuhren viele Kilometer.

Some of it was just a gravel road, often with holes. Every now and again there were blind heads.

Teilweise war es nur eine Schotterstrasse, oft mit vielen Löchern. Ab und zu hatte es unübersichtliche Kuppen.

We stopped to admire this lovely view. Stykkishólmur can be seen across the fjord. An approaching rainfall urged us to drive on.

Wir hielten an für diese wunderbare Aussicht. Auf der anderen Seite des Fjords sieht man Stykkishólmur. Eine nahende Regenfront mahnte uns zur Weiterfahrt.

We passed a few roadworks, and stopped for coffee in Buðardalur.

Wir fuhren an ein paar Baustellen vorbei, und in Buðardalur tranken wir einen Kaffee.

Lots of lupins, sheep, waterfalls, mountains, snow, horses, sea, secludedness, peaceful scenery 🙂

Viele Lupinen, Schafe, Wasserfälle, Berge, Schnee, Pferde, Meer, Einsamkeit, friedliche Landschaften 🙂

… eider ducks and other ducks, …

… Eiderenten und andere Enten …

… red-throated loons, …

… Sterntaucher, …

… some were mating, others already had young ones, …

… einige waren am paaren, andere hatten bereits Junge, …

… all sorts of birds like arctic terns, …

… allerlei Vögel wie Küstenseeschwalben, …

… snow grouses, golden plovers and whimbrels.

… Schneehühner, Goldregenpfeifer und Regenbrachvögel.

The air was filled with cheeping, squeaking, chirping, and all the other sounds that birds do 😉 At times it sounded like shouting from a full football stadium !

Die Luft war gefüllt mit Piepsen, Quieken, Gezwitscher, und all den anderen Lauten, welche Vögel von sich geben;-) Manchmal hörte es sich an wie Geschrei aus einem Fussballstadion !

The landscape was very diversified and fascinating.

Die Landschaft war abwechslungsreich und faszinierend.

It was late when we got back to the campsite…

Es war spät, als wir endlich zum Campingplatz zurückkehrten…
